Sirens of Treasure Island
Round-One Rough Concept Sketches By Howie Green - www.hgd.com

I present these sketches and rough concept artwork to show how my creative process begins. These are rough pencil sketches to start the discussion of what this Pirate / Siren themed restaurant at Treasure Island Hotel in Las Vegas might look like. The space was empty and was planned to be themed to take advantage of the Sirens of T.I. live action thrill and fireworks show that takes place outside the hotel several times a night. The show draws huge crowds and the initial restaurant idea was to capitlize on the Sirens theme and develop an environment that was to be their treasure house and hideout that they would return to after capturing a ship and robbing it of all the treasure. So, the interior would be a G-rated Guilded Palace of Treasure and Pleasure... but fun for the whole family.

My take on these sketches is that the Sirens "House" would be part Stevie Nicks gypsy caravan style with lots of elaborate fabric draperies, pillars and lots of curved shapes and surfaces to reflect the strong female figure theme of the environment. Sort of Pop Art tropical gypsy - lots of female forms on display as sculpture and built into the murals, waterfall, pillars etc. Its's an environment that celebrates the seductive and dangerous female Siren/Pirate.
